God Promised! God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19 God always keeps His promises - No matter what it looks like. Often we get a word or a promise from God during a time that we need it the most. Many times God has given me a word that I knew was from God Himself! After receiving the promise, I was excited and ready. Then I would wait and wait and wait. Time passed and I began to question if I misunderstood God, whether what I heard was not what I thought I heard or if the person who gave me the word "missed it". When I was about to give up and decide the promise wasn’t to be. . . . God gave me another word with the same promise. There are several things I have learned in my waiting time. One, God says what He means and means what He says. We may not completely understand it though. If you remember, in John 2, Jesus told the Jews to "tear down this temple and I will rebuild it in three days". The Jews basically said "yeah, right, it took us 46 years to build it and you say you can in three days." However, Jesus was referring to His body as the temple. That is exactly what happened, the Jews killed Him and He was raised after three days. The scriptures say that afterwards the disciples recalled what He said and then understood. Many times God has told me something and I pictured it one way and God did what He said and it wasn’t the way I thought He was going to do it at all. Second, time doesn’t mean anything to God. A day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is the same as a day with God. So if God tells you SOON - it may be tomorrow and it may be a few years or it may be more. Look how long Joseph waited or how about Abraham. And third, God foresees all that is ahead. He knows about the bumps on the road. God will give us a promise of hope to carry us along our bumpy road. In order that we can know in our heart that all though we are on the roughest part of our journey, we know we WILL have the promise at the end of the journey. And lastly, it will often look the opposite of what God said will happen before the promise is fulfilled. If God has given you a promise that hasn’t come to pass yet and you are living your life in a way that would not hinder God’s word from it coming to pass, then KNOW with all your heart, GOD WILL BRING IT TO PASS. He can be trusted. I promise you that!!!
