    Ginger’s Bread Crumbs . . .

John 10:10-11

[10] The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. [11] I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

Jesus said in the scriptures that he come that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly. Abundantly or to the full. Jesus wants us to have an abundant, full life. It is as simple as that and anything else is a lie. A lie that comes from the thief. Who is the thief? Satan. We need to understand that God has our best interest in mind. God is just like a good father is to his child. A good father wants the best for his child. He gives the best he can. A good father gets excited when his child says "I love you, Dad!" A good father takes great pleasure in giving his child that special birthday gift that the child has wanted so bad. When a good father tells his child "no," it is for the best interest of his child. It is easy to understand that you don’t feed a child three bags of snickers bars for dinner or to understand that you don’t allow your child to play in the street. It is just that simple with God. He is our heavenly father who wants the best for us. God only tells us no and doesn’t give us something we are asking for because it would be harmful to us, it isn’t time for it yet or because He has something better for us. Maybe he won’t give you that minium wage job you are asking him for because he has a much better paying job with better hours for you. You never know. The child doesn’t understand why he can’t play in the street, he just knows that is what he wants. Just like a child can’t understand when daddy says no; sometimes we don’t either. However, we have the peace that God does loves us and does want to give us our heart’s desire. He loved us so much that He sent his only child to die for us. And Jesus is that only son, that Good Shepherd, who gave up his life for me and for you. He would have died if it were only for you and you alone. If he loves us that much then surely, He must love us more than we will ever know.
