Words Left Unsaid

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
Proverbs 25:11

The other night, I went to dinner with a group of church people. It was Friday night and the place was buzzing with people everywhere. Our waitress was . . . well, honestly, she was rude. She wasn’t friendly at all. She didn’t even seem to want to serve us.

After we had been there talking awhile and the restaurant was thinning out, I watch our waitress from a slight distance. She was busy clearing and cleaning tables. I watched her take the back of her hand and rub her forehead and sigh, then continue with what she was doing. She was working hard, but wasn’t enjoying it at all. Another waitress was there working just as hard, but seemed quite content with her work. I continued to watch our waitress clean. I felt a hurt down inside for her. I wondered what made her be so sad. I wondered what she was going through. I wanted to go tell her that God loved her and that everything would be alright. And with much regret, I must say that I never said a word to her.

I am truly grieved in my heart for her pain and for my own self for not saying anything to her. You see one kind word, one word of hope can change a day, change a circumstance and even change a life. Have you ever had someone speak a word to you that changed your life in some way? I have!

Our words can encourage someone else, they can comfort someone else, they can bring a person to know Jesus loves them, it can bring them to salvation.

Join with me in my promise to never miss another opportunity to tell someone about Jesus and his love for us. Jesus is coming back soon. . . How will the lost and dying people of this world know if we don’t tell them. Jesus told us in Mark 16:15 ". . . Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. . ." So let’s GO!
